Immunology, Asthma and Allergy Research Institute (IAARI) was established on January 31st, 2000 with the mission to promote knowledge, research and technology. Our research encompasses basic, clinical and epidemiological sciences in the fields of immunology, asthma and allergies.

 

To this end, we have contributed to the following activities:

  1. Implementation of research and distribution of knowledge through scientific publications
  2. Signing cooperation agreements and implementing joint research projects
  3. Establishment of a UNESCO Chair in Health Education
  4. Organizing conferences and seminars
  5. Collaboration with the National Committee for Chronic Respiratory Diseases
  6. Collaboration in the annual World Asthma Day events
  7. Holding workshops and training courses for students, researchers, specialists, patients and their families
  8. Introduction and implementation of the diagnostic tests for patients with immunodeficiencies and allergies
  9. Creating and maintaining DNA, plasma and cell banks of immunodeficiency, asthma and allergy patients
  10. Collaboration in the publication of an international scientific journal on allergy, asthma and immunology
  11. Production of the IAARI internal newsletter

Currently, 22 full-time and part-time research staff and 13 full-time executive staff work at IAARI. We also work closely with several external faculty members and researchers.

Research Priorities

  1. To register clinical and epidemiological data of patients with asthma, allergies and immunodeficiency diseases.
  2. To investigate the role of environmental and genetic factors in the incidence of asthma, allergies and immunodeficiency diseases.
  3. To unravel the natural geography and distribution of allergenic plants and pollens in Iran.
  4. To prepare and set standards for botanical and food allergens extraction.
  5. To investigate educational and research methods on asthma, allergies and immunodeficiency diseases at different levels including social, healthcare, prevention, patients and their families.
  6. To assess and provide strategies to improve the quality of life in asthma, allergy, and immunodeficiency patients and their families.
  7. To develop diagnostic laboratory techniques and therapeutic interventions for asthma, allergies, immunodeficiency diseases, including prenatal diagnostic tests.
  8. Development of specialized DNA, plasma and cell databases of asthma, allergy and immunodeficiency patients.
  9. To study new and traditional therapeutics and novel ways to prevent asthma, allergies and immunodeficiency diseases.
  10. Conducting research on bone marrow transplantation and immune regulation in asthma, allergies, immunodeficiency and autoimmune diseases.
  11. To develop and propose research policies and priorities in the fields of immunology, asthma and allergies to legal authorities;
