Holding a scientific seminar on gene therapy in patients with primary immunodeficiency
The Immunology, Asthma, and Allergy Research Center at Tehran University of Medical Sciences held a scientific seminar titled "Gene Therapy in Patients with Primary Immunodeficiency" during World Primary Immunodeficiency Week. The event, held on May 10, featured a lecture by Dr. Gholamali Karder, a professor of molecular genetics and lead researcher on a national gene therapy project for SCID-RAG1/2 patients.
Dr. Karder presented an overview of gene therapy methods, including viral and non-viral vectors, ex vivo and in vivo techniques, and the role of CRISPR technologies in advancing the field. He discussed current clinical trials and shared insights into the national gene therapy project at the center. The seminar concluded with a Q&A session and an open discussion among attendees.
