New Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor of the Iranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology
The editorial board meeting for the Iranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (IJAAI) took place on Sunday, June 18, 2023. The meeting was held at the Dr. Farhoudi Hall of the Immunology, Asthma and Allergy Research Institute, affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences. During this gathering, Dr. Masoud Movahedi and Dr. Ali Akbar Pourfathollah were introduced as the new editor-in-chief and associate editor of the journal.
IJAAI is a bimonthly publication that focuses on original research and reviews in the fields of immunology, asthma, and allergy. It is associated with the Immunology, Asthma and Allergy Research Institute which was established in 2001 to promote knowledge development in these areas alongside advancing research and technology while training competent researchers.
The meeting included notable attendees such as Dr. Mostafa Moin, who served as chairman during this session. Other participants included Dr. Zahra Pourpak and Dr. Mohammad Reza Fazlollahi - members of the editorial board - as well as Dr. Maryam Nourizadeh as executive editor, Dr. Milad Mirmoghtadaei in his role as editorial manager, along with Aileen Mardanpour who carried out financial officer duties for the journal.
Dr. Moin presented certificates of appointment to both Dr. Movahedi and Dr.Pourfathollah to recognize their roles as editor-in-chief and associate editor respectively while expressing gratitude for their willingness to take on these responsibilities.
Throughout the meeting, various topics were discussed including matters like organizing workshops focused on scientific writing and peer-reviewing practices aimed at improving overall publication quality standards within IJAAI. Another significant topic touched upon was enhancing visibility through social media platforms so that greater awareness about IJAAI can be generated among potential readership bases.
Furthermore, it was emphasized that fostering collaboration between the journal and young reviewers from basic and clinical sciences was essential. This move can facilitate valuable contributions from diverse perspectives while simultaneously supporting the development of future experts in these respective fields.
Additionally, deliberations took place to address challenges faced by IJAAI and brainstormed potential solutions for its promotion.
