Tehran University of Medical Sciences to Celebrate World Primary Immunodeficiency Week
The Iranian Society of Asthma and Allergy, in collaboration with the Immunology, Asthma and Allergy Research Institute, will hold a two-day event to commemorate the World Primary Immunodeficiency Week at the Children's Medical Center on April 26 and 27, 2023.
The event aims to raise awareness and educate doctors, specialists, patients and families about primary immunodeficiency diseases, which are rare disorders that affect the immune system and make people more susceptible to infections and other complications.
The first day of the event will feature a scientific seminar for physicians, specialists and fellows from different fields (clinical immunology and allergy, pediatrics, infectious diseases, internal medicine, rheumatology and basic immunology). The scientific secretary of the seminar is Dr. Sima Shokri and the executive secretary is Dr. Samin Sharifian, both clinical allergist/immunologists. The seminar will cover topics such as the history and perspective of immunology, the classification of primary immunodeficiency diseases, the infectious manifestations of primary immunodeficiency diseases, the surgical problems in primary immunodeficiency diseases, the rheumatologic manifestations of primary immunodeficiency diseases, the dermatologic manifestations of primary immunodeficiency diseases, and the diagnostic approach to primary immunodeficiency diseases. The speakers are professors of clinical immunology, and allergy, basic immunology and other subspecialties of pediatrics.
The second day of the event will feature an educational seminar for patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases and their families. The seminar will be held from 9 am to 12 pm and will include lectures by clinical allergist/immunologists on topics such as school guide for patients with PID, vaccination in patients with PID, psychological problems in patients with PID, PID in adults, and IVIG treatment tips for patients with PID.
